Jorge A. Laris

President

Jorge is President of Texas Sterling Construction Co. He began his career as a Field Engineer at a project on the Katy Freeway in 1987. Since that time, Jorge has worked on many highway and bridge projects throughout Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Wyoming. In 1993 Jorge established an office in Guadalajara, Mexico, for a US Contractor and successfully negotiated, designed and constructed three highway projects in Mexico ($50M), including the first ever slip-form concrete pavement project in Mexico (Ticuman, Morelos).

Jorge joined Texas Sterling after 14 years at Zachry Construction where he served in several capacities including Senior Vice President, Operations Manager for Civil Operations in the Gulf Coast, Houston Area Manager and Project Manager.

Jorge holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana (1983) and a M. E. degree from Texas A&M University (1988).

Brady Janes

Vice President & CFO

Brady Janes

Brady joined TSC in 2012 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer bringing with him over 20 years of construction experience.  As CFO, he is charged with managing all financial transactions, financial reporting, project controls, SOX Compliance and administrative functions. 

A native of Oklahoma, Brady and his family have called the Houston area home for the last 15 years.  Prior to joining TSC, he was previously Director of Finance with Webber and served as Controller for a nationwide utility construction company and a multi-national cellular tower construction company after starting his career as a CPA working as an auditor.

Brady holds a BS Degree in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma (1997).

Michael Duffy, P.E.

Michael Duffy, P.E.

Michael joined the TSC family early in 2014 as Vice President for Contracts and  Development.  His experience includes over three decades of heavy civil and building design and construction, both in the private sector and for the government.  During twenty years with the US Army Corps of Engineers, he held command and staff positions ranging from small unit leader to senior positions at Corps Districts in New York and Illinois and at Corps Headquarters, and, on the Army Secretariat and Secretary of Defense staffs at the Pentagon. 

In the military, in separate assignments, he ran the Humanitarian and Civic Action construction program in Central America, was responsible for one fifth of the Corps’ domestic military construction program and international work in over 80 countries, and, he was responsible for classified missions for the SecDef in Mexico and Colombia. He spent a year as an exchange Engineer to the Army of Peru and served under the US Ambassador on the US Country team there. He was also Army Ranger, Airborne (parachutist), Scuba (combat diver – US and Peru), Atomic Demolition and Munitions (ADM), and Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) weapons certified.

Michael holds degrees from West Point (BS), the University of Maryland (MS), George Mason University (JD) and the US Army Command and General Staff College (MMAS).  He’s a licensed attorney (VA), licensed engineer (TX and NY), a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction, a certified Project Management Professional, and a Texas court system certified mediator.

David Luytjes, P.E.

Vice President & Chief Estimator

David Luytjes, P.E.

David joined Texas Sterling in 2015 as our Vice President & Chief Estimator and leads TSC's three divisions in Estimating. He has worked in the highway/heavy civil construction industry for over 40 years, and brings practical experience to our group in roads, bridges, rail, water/wastewater facilities, dams and waterwork. He has held field positions ranging from Carpenter, Instrumentman, Field Engineer, Structures Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, and Project Engineer on projects ranging from $2 million to over $200 million. He has worked in the States of Michigan, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Illinois, Missouri, Louisiana, and Georgia.

David has over 20 years experience as an estimator bidding work in multiple states as hard bid, negotiated price, best value and design build.

David has a BS in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University (1978) and a Master of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University (1982) and is a licensed engineer in the states of Virginia and Michigan.

Scott Cromack

Scott Cromack - Vice President - Gulf Coast Divison

Scott Joined Texas Sterling in 2016 as Vice President of the Gulf Coast Division.  He is a native of Texas and has worked in the heavy civil construction industry for over 24 years throughout Texas, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, California and Arizona.  Prior to joining Texas Sterling Scott spent his entire career with two major U.S. contractors starting as an engineer then progressing through positions ranging from Field Superintendent to Project Director on contracts from $1 Million to over $1.5 Billion.  He has been involved with traditional bid-build  and alternative delivery contracts to construct roadways, light rail, large diameter tunnels and commercial buildings as well as estimating and proposal development. 

Scott holds a BS degree in Construction Management from the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University (1992).

Greg McVey 

Vice President - South Texas Division

Greg joined Texas Sterling in 2014 as Vice President of the South Texas Division and brings 35 years of Heavy Civil/Highway experience to the company. Greg has worked in Texas for over 10 years and in other states such as California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Wyoming, and Utah since 1980. He has participated in numerous highway and bridge, railroad , airport, dam, and marine projects under many delivery methods including: bid-build, CMAR, design-build, and PPP/Alternate Funding delivery methods.

Greg graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS degree in Civil Engineering (1980).

John Nicholson 

Vice President - North Texas Division

John joined Texas Sterling in 2016 as Vice President of the North Texas Division. He has worked in the Heavy/ Highway Civil Construction industry over 40 years in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.  Prior to joining Texas Sterling, John spent 27 years with H.B.Zachry starting as an office engineer out of college and advancing to Operations Manager over Heavy/Highway Division.  He then joined T. J. Lambrecht as Operations Manager Southern Region for 10 years.

 John holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington [1976] and is a licensed engineer in Texas.

Jose C. Gonzalez, CHST

Jose C. Gonzalez, CHST

Jose joined Texas Sterling in September 2012 as the Houston Division Safety Manager and in 2014 was promoted to the Corporate Safety Director. His safety career started 23 years ago in the Transportation industry before transitioning to Industrial Safety. He found his niche in the Construction industry where he has worked since 2001.  Some of the more notable projects under his direction include the construction of Reliant Stadium, MD Anderson Cancer Center Vertical Expansion, Bayport Container Yard and Wharf at the Port of Houston, and the Expansion of Terminal “C” at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

Jose has a Business Management Degree from Texas Southmost College (1985) and an Occupational Safety & Health Degree from San Jacinto College (2011).

Adolph Pavlicek  

Corporate Equipment Director

Adolph Pavlicek

Adolph has over 35 years in the field of Construction Equipment Mechanics and has been with Texas Sterling since 2003.  Adolph's previous positions include Shop Mechanic and Master Technician for twelve years in the field, Shop Foremen, Equipment Superintendent, Equipment Manager, Shop Manager and DOT Compliance.

Adolph is a graduate of TSTI in Waco Texas and completed a two year apprenticeship in the field.  Additionally, Adolph has attended a number of manufacturer certified courses for engine rebuilds, transmissions, hydraulics and electrical work.
